Ephesians 2:21-22 KJV
21 In whom all the
buildings fitly framed together groweth into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In whom ye also builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
Galilee had humble beginnings. The church began with a few faithful members under a bush harbor immediately after emancipation.
Galilee was founded by Rev. William "Bill" Adam Sanders, Brother Doc Rogers, Rev. H.D. Sanders, Brothers Bristol Creech and George Larkin Sanders.
Built on the present sight with materials and labor given by men of the church. Women prepared and sent food to the workers by small children. In the basement, beams with notches, made by slaves can still be seen.
A succession of devoted men followed. They include Rev. Fred Davis, Rev. Hent Jones, Dr. Witherspoon, Rev. Underwood, Rev. D.H. McCrae, Rev. A. C. Tillery, Rev. N. C. sanders, Rev. J. C. Utley, Rev. J. R. Burt, Rev. Banks, Rev. John Thomas, Rev. W. H. Lucas, Rev. Oliver Johnson, Rev. William Smith, Rev. Anthony Coleman and our present pastor Rev. Anthony Raeford. Under their vision and leadership Galilee Missionary Baptist Church grew.

- 1875 The first permanent structure was built with the Rev. Allen Jones and its first called Pastor

- 1922 Baptist Training Union was established by Brother John W. Mitchener
- 1951 The Missionary Department showed much growth and progress under the leadership of Sister Lousettia Sanders Bell.
- Deaconess auxillery was organized by Rev. James Bell
- BTU was reorganized by Sister Lina Sanders
- The Laymen's League was organized by Rev. W. H. Lucas
- 1975 The present edifice was constructed under Rev. W. H. Lucas (Contractors were Deacon Elmo Archibald and Brother Elbert Sanders
- 2005 The addition of the Fellowship Hall and classrooms were constructed under the leadership of Pastor William G. Smith (Contractors were Daniels and Daniels Construction Co., Goldsboro, NC)
